Shows the cumulative human pressure on terrestrial ecosystems on a 0 to 1 scale, where higher values mean stronger human modification. It is derived from the Global Human Modification v3 (gHM v3) dataset by Theobald et al., served through the Google Earth Engine Community Catalog at about 300 m resolution for the year 2022. The dataset combines nine anthropogenic stressors (settlements, agriculture, transportation, mining, energy and other land uses); read light tones as near-natural land and dark tones as heavily modified land.
The Human Footprint layer quantifies the cumulative human pressure on terrestrial ecosystems. Each pixel carries a value between 0.0 (no modification, near-natural land) and 1.0 (maximum modification), summarising the combined effect of nine anthropogenic stressors such as human settlements, agriculture, transportation, mining, energy production and other land uses.
| Code | Provider | Resolution | Year |

The overall human-modification composite band of the gHM v3 image collection (projects/sat-io/open-datasets/GHM/HM_2022_300M) is loaded in Google Earth Engine, clipped to the site geometry, reprojected to the target CRS at ~300 m and rendered with a light-to-dark blue-purple ramp normalised over the 0 to 1 range.
