The Historical Climate — Wind Gusts indicator shows the historical trend of wind gusts at 10 metres height. For each day, mean, maximum, and minimum values are provided. Gusts represent instantaneous peak wind speeds and are more indicative than sustained wind for damage risk assessment.
Wind stress affects vegetation mechanical integrity, pollinator flight patterns, seed and pollen dispersal, and can cause significant damage to crops and structures.
Data come from the Open-Meteo Historical Weather API. The variable used is wind_gusts_10m (wind gusts at 10m, daily mean, max, min). Data are interpolated to the site's position.
