Active and capable faults of the ITHACA catalogue (ISPRA) and their 200 m attention zone on each side, with the fault nearest to the site.
Traces of the active and capable faults of the ITHACA catalogue around the site (5 km), in 2 classes: the fault trace (drawn as a 50 m band to stay visible) and its attention zone of 200 m on each side, the ZA_FAC that the Italian guidelines on active and capable faults (Commissione tecnica per la microzonazione sismica, Linee guida FAC v1.0, 2015, Tab. A4) set for level 1 microzonation. Distances are computed on the ground (EPSG:3035 and geodesic), not in Web Mercator. Source. ITHACA, catalogue of capable faults, ISPRA - Geological Survey of Italy, Geosciences-IR release (CC BY 4.0, 4.091 traces, catalogue updated January 2026), mirrored by 3Bee in dated snapshots. Reading the map. The layer also names the nearest fault of Italy with its geodesic distance from the site, the age of its last activity, the quality of the study and the mapping scale (1:N), and whether the site falls in its attention zone. Traces mapped at 1:50.000 or coarser can be off by tens to hundreds of metres: read the distance together with the scale. Limits. ITHACA lists only the faults that have been studied and published, and its coverage is uneven: no fault nearby never means no capable fault. The narrower susceptibility and respect zones (ZS_FAC, ZR_FAC) need a level 3 microzonation study and are not drawn. The data does not replace the seismic microzonation, the geological report and the opinion of the competent authorities.
